More views of Maine tomorrow... this is a flower from Acadia. :)
We all survived the first day of second grade.
I must say on that first day with all of the rules and procedures I get tired of hearing MYSELF talk!!
Now on to filling out paperwork for my own two kiddos.
I think the first day of fourth grade was a hit. :)

After years and years of using that first day for rules and procedures I started teaching on the first day. And then I did rules and procedures as things came up. Of course, this was 8th grade - a different cup of tea than 2nd grade. But my team mates were still shocked! What do you mean my most rigid social studies teacher said - how can you start without telling them the rules????!!!!
All I can tell you is, it worked.
After reading that Morgan's daughter had started school I went looking for your blog.
I started reading it as a positive part of my day a few years ago.
Not sure if I ever told you - I am friends with Casey Gavettes Mom.
I was forced into retirement last November - I have ocular rosacea and my eyes gave out.
I am still adjusting to retirement.
It too is a different cup of tea.
Enjoyed reading and looking at your pix from your trip to Boston - I am a native of Cape Cod.
Those chil'ren are so lucky to have you for their teacher. Best of luck with this new year! Your Maine pics are gorgeous!
