These aren't your typical icicles.... they are ice "marbles!" These were at Yates Mill and were so neat to observe where the water kept running over the dam and creating these beautiful masterpieces. You may want to click on the photo to make it larger.
As you know I am teaching my students about Colonial Times. I had the kids make a "newspaper" last week... just one sentence. I wanted them to experience, as best they could, how long it took the Colonial Printer to make a newspaper. We don't have a printing press, so we use the next best thing.... newspapers and magazines. The kids had to cut each letter out for the words in the sentence they write. The sentence had to be about something that could have happened in town.... like "The blacksmith pulled John Harvey's five teeth this week." ... or something like that. :) They then glue the letters they cut out of the magazines/newspapers on the page underneath their sentence. The kids have fun searching for the right letters.... and it is always interesting to see their perception of what would have happened in a Colonial town or village. lol

Here is one that I had to laugh at.... can you see why?

Colonist Fred died December 2, 1912.
