Now on to "Road Trip with the Bestie - Part 2"

If you have never been to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home, I would highly recommend it. The man was ingenious and it is all over his house.... so much to take in and understand how smart that man was! This picture shows his under-the-house walkway. We enjoyed using it because of a thunderstorm! It allowed his servants to cook the meal away from the house yet have a covered walkway to get it into the house. It is also a pretty cool place to hang out! (My bestie took this photo)

This is the first "little" building Thomas Jefferson built. It is where he and his wife stayed when they first began. It is small, but they made the most of it. That would be me pulling a Vana White for you.

Now my bestie wants to show you that YOU could have Monticello IF your "Price is Right!"

This tree had been planted by Thomas Jefferson himself and they recently had to cut it down. When speaking with one of the men who worked there, he said it was a sad, sad day when that happened. They had also taken down other trees from the first time we had been there a few years ago. Most recently because storms blew one down in the front yard so they decided it was time to take down another large oak near the house lest it fall on the house. I missed them!

Thomas Jefferson's garden. The view is unbelievable. I could enjoy sitting out in the building and taking in the view of God's creation for a long time.

This is a chimney from the blacksmith shop on Mulberry Row - the place where the slaves lived. Thomas Jefferson actually inherited most of his slaves from his father and father-in-law. He never really liked slavery, but it was just how things were at that time in history. He was good to his people from what I understood from our tour. It was while on this tour that the thunderstorm came up and we had to make a run for the underhouse passageway!

Thomas Jefferson's grave marker. There are still people in his family lineage that are able to be buried in this grave site.

My bestie and Thomas Jefferson's statue.

Me and Thomas. He was over 6 feet tall and in quite good shape for being over 200... doncha think?

Next stop. . . . well. . . you will have to come back to see, won't you!?
