11/23/10

I love the sun shining through and on the leaves. I think that is my weakness to photograph in the fall.

This is salt and pepper that I photographed some time ago.
What do you notice first?
If you answered the peppercorn, that is what most people would say. We do not notice that all around it are pieces of rock salt.

That seems to be how we view our lives sometimes.

Sometimes we become so consumed with the "black spot" on our lives that we fail to look at the blessings all around it. The "black spot" may be our past, it may be a trial, it could be anything that can take our thankfulness away from the Lord.

Our Pastor reminded us of this on Sunday when he shared this verse:

Psalm 68:19
Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

We need to count our blessings, one by one, and see what benefits the Lord has truly given us.... even with those "black spots" in our lives.

Remember the old hymn "Count Your Blessings"... it is such a good one. Enjoy reading the words as you remember those benefits the Lord supplies you every minute of every day.

When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Refrain:
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.

When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings—wealth can never buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
