In less than a week our state will be voting on an amendment that states that "Marriage between one man and one woman is the only lawful domestic union that would be recognized in NC."

Steve and I will be voting FOR this amendment.

Our pastor has been speaking on this topic for the last two weeks and it has been very good.  I wanted to share some of my notes from his sermons.

People who are against the amendment are those who think a homosexual union are normal and should be treated the same as a man/woman relationship.

This is clearly against God's Word.

Homosexuality is a sin.  It is a sin just like lying, adultery, worrying, stealing, etc.

I don't hate those that practice homosexuality.

I hate their sin.

Just like I hate the sin of someone who has committed adultery, stolen, or lied.

How can someone who is a Christian say that homosexuality is normal or right?  It isn't.

God ordained one man and one woman to be married for life.

There is a new morality that has invaded our society and world.  It is one that wants God's Word thrown out and let man decide in his own eyes what is right or lawful.

I am considered a "hater" because I believe that what God's Word says about homosexuality is true.

Again, I do not hate the people.  I hate the sin.

What does God's Word say about this?

Leviticus 18:22 - Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Leviticus 20:13 - If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Genesis 13:13 - But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.

II Kings 15:11-12 - And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord, as did David his father.  And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

There are people in our society today who says this is Old Testament and does not apply to us any longer.

God's Word applies to us every day because it is the LIVING Word whether Old or New Testament.

However, here are some Scripture from the New Testament on how God views homosexuality:

Romans 1:24-28 - Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
For this cause God gave them up into vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of a woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

I Corinthians 6:9 - Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolators, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind.

Jude 7,8 - Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Likewise also these filthy dreamers defiles the flesh, despise dominion (authority) and speak evil of dignities.

What do all of these basically say?

That God ordained a man and a woman to be married.  God has not ordained same-sex relationships and they are an abomination to Him.

Does God still love those that practice homosexuality?

Yes.

He wants them to turn from this sin just as He wants any of us to turn from our sin.

In fact, Paul mentions that in I Corinthians when talking to the Corinthians.

I Corinthians 6:11 - And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Meaning, when anyone repents of sin they are washed, cleaned and justified because of what Christ did on the cross.

We must be careful to follow God's Word and not the world's philosophy.  Do you believe all of God's Word or only parts of it?

The meaning of marriage:

One man.

One woman.

For Life.
